Hunter Glisson-Warner is a fabulous barefoot trimmer. She truly cares about and listens to each horse she encounters. When she first started trimming my horses, I was looking for answers about healthy hooves and a nagging suspicion that something was “off” with one of my horses, Apollo. During our first appointment, Hunter took a step back and looked at their whole bodies, watched them move, and asked questions about their behavior before even picking up their feet. She identified many of Apollo’s issues under saddle before I mentioned them; they were related to feet and posture. She then explained what we could do to help remedy the situation. For the first time with a farrier, I (and my horses) felt heard and respected as part of the care team. Hunter is always happy to answer my questions. With my older gelding, Jet, Hunter gave him lots of breaks while trimming and was conservative so he wouldn’t be sore (a common issue for him). Over time, as he became more comfortable with balanced trims and a tight 4-week cycle, the halter became just a formality as Jet was relaxed and trusting of Hunter and the process. Hunter recognizes the importance of caring for the whole horse and the influence on the feet. She helped us optimize nutrition for healthy hooves and connected us to an equine body worker and dentist to take care of their bodies. Their muscling and posture shifted in positive ways. We also put Jet in composite shoes to support his recovering feet and he began moving a lot more and moving more correctly as a result. In fact, he was able to go back into ridden work comfortably. Although he is now 26, Jet is frequently seen galloping around in his pasture with the other horses and looks forward to getting his feet done. He is significantly more comfortable than he was a few years ago. Giving the horse a voice and listening to what they need in a trim is an uncommon trait in the farrier world but gives the horse a particular gift. Through continuing education (both by horses and courses/ clinics), Hunter stays up to date with new techniques and approaches and continues learning about anatomy and biomechanics to enhance her work. She is a flexible problem solver who is always looking for the best solution for the particular horse/ owner combination. Owners value her expertise and intuition. The horses (and donkeys) on Hunter’s books appreciate her approach and are truly very lucky to have her as part of their care team.

Good things come to those who persist. My Devil's Garden Mustang gelding arrived April 2022, age 12 with hooves that looked as if they'd never been trimmed and not picking up his backs. We went to work training him for the farrier, not knowing it would take five months with a dozen baseless refusals from vets and farriers and a relay of referrals across Texas from certified barefoot trimmers to get us to Hunter Glisson-Warner. Before Hunter came in September, it seemed a life or death situation. My horse's hoof walls were separating from the sole and he was lame on his right front, stumbling, unable to exercise or train. Hunter proceeded to calmly, coolly, perfectly trim for over an hour, without incident. In three weeks she came back to check progress and even them up, all of his issues resolved and it's been regular trims ever since. Aside from this remarkable gift, Hunter's equine education and certification, business practices and whole horse approach combine to make her one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable horse professionals around. There aren't words to convey our gratitude, but the photos below showing before and after Hunter's work say a lot.

I can honestly say, fate brought Hunter into my horse’s life. I can’t remember how I stumbled upon her Facebook page, but I am beyond grateful I did. Hunter is so accommodating, hard-working, and just out-right loving. Every time she works with my horses, she constantly has a smile on her face and the best attitude. Even when one of them kicks, stomps, or tries to use her as a kick-stand, she is always so patient and calm and truly shows them love and understanding. Hunter is always striving to learn and her top priority is doing what is best for the horses. Starting from feeding advice, pasture management, tools and websites you can use for research and knowledge, she really has it all covered. I wish I could clone her and send her out across the world to ensure the betterment of horse ownership and improve the lives of all she encounters. Hunter deserves the highest of accolades!

Hunter took my laminitic old horse (chronic case) and gave him another year and a half of life through trimming and boots. I found Hunter through a friend who trims and she knew I was at the desperation level of deciding to euthanize the old man due to the pain in his hooves. 1st trim he began to improve and he was fully comfortable by the 3rd trim. melanoma cancer took him, but he was comfortable in his feet due to Hunter's trimming. She does all my horses and is so patient with the ones that don't cooperate like I want them to. Love her handling skills and willingness to teach me about their hooves, so I can be knowledgeable about my horse's hooves.

Hunter is amazing ! She is straight forward and knows her stuff! She was able to help my barefoot colt be more comfortable as he continues through training. Very knowledgeable on nutrition for the hoof and answered all my questions for my first horse that is barefoot. And bonus stars for a farrier who goes out of their way to get to know the horse! Thank you and happy you are part of our team.

All the stars! Hunter is so on it. Not only does she give my horse the best trim for his needs at every visit, but she also tells me what she sees, what’s changed, how that can affect other areas of his life and what that says about what’s happening in his body. She’s extremely knowledgeable. I know that when I ask her a question, she not only will answer it, she’s going to give me the ins and outs of the subject matter and further answer other questions I didn’t even know I needed to ask. There is a “WHY” behind everything she does, every suggestion she gives, every product she recommends. She doesn’t just trim my horses feet, she educates me and has added significantly to the quality of his life by way of my brain. 10/10 would recommend.
